Hey, beautiful human!
Thanks for checking me out. π
I'm a writer hailing from the brighter part of this world, India. Apart from the poor waste-management, a high crime rate, and the totally religiously blind masses that are oblivious to human rights, this country is one heck of a place to live in.
The greenery, the mountains, the oceans... they're all here to nurture my creative intelligence and aid my existence.
My life has been rough. I've struggled financially, mentally, and physically. Not because of my own stupidity but because of the weight I had to carry for my parents in a debt trap.
But when the pandemic came like a wildfire, bending the world to its knees, I found my breakthrough.
As the world found their escape indoors, the growing popularity of remote work and freelancing became my angels in disguise.
You see, I was always a writer. I started writing poetry when I was 10. I made my first dollar freelancing at 13.
But despite proving I could make my skill lucrative, I had the extreme pressure from my parents, family, and society to follow the social norms. You know, the usual: go to school, get a degree, find a job, live the rat race, and rot.
That's typical India for you, by the way.
Jokes on them, I already had my life figured out. My stubbornness had me protest for years, barely helping me make it past high school. Then came the pandemic.
During the vacation, I started freelancing a bit more seriously. You know, more hours and bigger projects.
Well, my parents couldn't bear seeing me not studying, so they forced me into a college. A finance degree pays well, they said.
But then, my network of clients started growing. I was getting bigger, better offers from all around the world. I was rejecting most of them, and I eventually started feeling guilty.
So, I started crunching some numbers. It turned out that I could make more money freelancing in 10 years than I could make with a finance degree in 30 years.
Oh yes, it was THAT wild!
And that's when I went all in on my superpower. 4 years ago.
Dropped my finance degree and started freelancing full-time. Very risky move, I know, especially given my circumstances with all the debt back then.
But that was like lighting fire to a cracker store. I started making good money from home. I thought I couldn't be blessed any more than this.
